Expo City
Expo Dubai is an event of global scale. The exhibition pleasantly surprises visitors with futuristic design and architectural solutions. The main emphasis is always on the future of the planet and new solutions. The best proof of this are the original pavilions. They are built by those countries that take part in the event of worldwide scale. Through amazing architectural solutions, nations have the opportunity to tell their history, vision of the future, planning and experience.
Expo Dubai Pavilions
Expo City Dubai world in the UAE was held in 2020-2022. A rich collection of national pavilions was raised on the site that was determined at the general assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau back in 2013. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event dates were shifted from 2020-2021 to 2021-2022. Dozens of pavilions have been built on the huge territory allocated for Expo Dubai. All buildings are different from each other, designed to dedicate guests to the national traditions, culture of the represented countries. These are peculiar messages from different corners of the world.
Expo Dubai gathered 191 countries. For the first time it was possible to place separate pavilions in one place to demonstrate the achievements of science and technology in one place. Separate buildings for the participants were raised on a large territory, some of them represented the state in common premises. Guests are pleasantly surprised by the majestic and compact constructions of the participating countries:
- Russia. Monumental and conspicuous structure attracts with its bright design and alternating colors. The pavilion is located in the thematic zone “Mobility”, where technical innovations and inventions of the future are demonstrated to the public. The appearance is presented in the form of multicolored threads (made of aluminum) without beginning and end. At night, when the backlighting is on, the building looks even more spectacular.
- Italy. Attracts guests with a large-scale construction, which is framed by curtains of many ropes and topped with the hulls of huge boats to demonstrate a variety of materials.
- Luxembourg. The tiny state has decorated the pavilion with a Moebius strip.
- Spain. Representatives of the country decorated the building with a three-dimensional print of a forest.
- Canada. Placed the exposition in a circular “theater” to demonstrate the country's natural diversity.
- Angola. Represents not as large-scale a structure as the others, but spectacular. It is decorated with colorful panels in the spectacular style of Sona (representing the art of sand painting).
- Afghanistan. The center showcases the country’s rich heritage: ceramics, calligraphy, jade and bronze. All collected by a private collector.
- United Kingdom. The cone-shaped pavilion is framed with ribbons of laminated wood. The surface features poems created by artificial intelligence from the words spoken by Expo Dubai exhibitors.
- UAE. The host country presented the most spectacular of all the pavilions. The architect was inspired by a falcon, so the building is made in the form of wings. They are made of modern material - fiberglass. It is not a static structure, but mobile. It turns and opens, demonstrating the Emirates' willingness to open up to the world.
Numerous reviews and photos attract attention. The recently raised facilities are worth a visit for free or for quite a reasonable price. Guests will be interested to know that the organizers worked on the reuse of construction waste that was generated after a large-scale construction project. The mixture used to pave the road included crumbs from used tires.
In March 2022, the Expo 2020 in Dubai concluded, but the story of this unique site continues under the new name - Expo City.
